Can you guess? Pearl is a Piñata. What a tolerant horse you were Pearl! Even with all that flapping crepe paper, you remained steadfast. Maybe it's because you are so fond of those two little amigos!? 

Sewing costumes for horses...I think I can add it to my CV. Oh the things we do. This little number earned us a second place ribbon in the A&H Show Equestrian Dress-up section.

dressage and show jumping

Oh doesn't he look dapper!!!!!! It's all about the dressing up, right? The core business of controling a horse is a bit of a mystery to me...but my boy has it under control. Harry participated in a dressage and show jumping competition last Sunday. He's not much of a dressage fan, it's a bit too slow for his liking. He sees himself as more of the show jumping type, I guess there's a bit more "Man from Snowy River" action involved! Despite his reluctance, Harry displayed excellent control and poise during the dressage test and was awarded first place! He was awarded second place in the show jumping and missed out on a win by three seconds...all because his pony stopped to do some business - well, when you gotta go, you gotta go!!!

A & H Show 2012: 'Dress-up your horse'

How's this for an equestrian event with a difference - the dress-up section! Don't the kids look hilarious! I'll tell you what, that Ben of mine is one brave lad. He cautiously slipped the floatie armbands onto Charm's front legs and then proceeded to blow each one up.  Imagine having your face that close to a pony's lofty foot!

The 'Sea-horse' theme won Harry and Till equal second place. I think if Ben had been wearing his boardies, they would have come home with a blue ribbon (just kidding). Poor Charm, he injured his foot an hour or so before this event.  It's fortunate he was able to carry the kids for the 'dress-up' competition, but Harry was unable to compete in the 'show jumping' section or any other events for the remainder of the day.  You'll be pleased to know, after a week of rest, Charm (who is almost 30 years old) is now in good shape again.
