eggs are highly prized here - we aren't reaching our usual quota these days...some of our chooks are getting old
are they not the prettiest looking carrots you have ever seen? fresh from the farmer's market
I don't eat much wheat any more - but I sure love the look and smell of freshly baked bread
the contents of three rooms thrown into one - it's carpet cleaning time
some of that freshly cleaned carpet
the kids and Ben built a backyard fire pit
our trampoline is off limits until we get a new mat - those triangular hooks have almost rusted through!
I love these juicy stain-making fruits - maybe I'll make some mulberry jam
we woke this morning to grey skies and rain - you can't imagine how we welcomed that rain
lego, lego, lego!!! I could get rid of all their other toys and they wouldn't notice
I took all these images with my nifty fifty. It was this inspiring post that motivated me to dig it out from the bottom of the camera bag and play with it again. Most exciting of all, today I figured out how to take control of white balance on my camera. I'd read bits and pieces about WB but it really seemed beyond me. Until today, I couldn't even figure out how to turn the auto WB off. So I asked an expert. Thanks to an email from Tahnee, I now understand white balance so much better than I did before. My family looked on bemused this morning as I flitted around the house taking photos and gleefully exclaiming "Look! I made this one warm!" and "Look! I made this one cool". Clearly they couldn't quite fathom my excitement but that's OK. Of course they wouldn't understand that not getting this WB stuff has really been bugging me. They weren't to know that in my quest for total manual mode control, this was the missing piece of the puzzle! I can now change ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. I've mastered back-button focus and I'm slowly getting used to AF-A (S) focus mode (which means I can select the focus point manually) and now....WHITE BALANCE!!! Hooray. Yep, photography really floats my boat. I still have a looong way to go and a heap to learn, but right now I feel such a sense of achievement; my camera and I have become properly acquainted!
Have a great week peeps x

I away love looking at you lovely photos of your week.
Learning how to use a camera properly is awesome isn't it? Love all your photos. We clean our carpets once a year - a must do because of the asthmatic in our house :)
Be popping in again I think!

Lovely photos! I understand your delight in discovering new things about the camera/photography. No on in this house understands my insane delight either ;-)
Great series of photos.
I always love seeing your photos. Enjoy your white balance-ing (I love playing with it, too!) and hope you are having a good weekend. That's some serious Lego you have going on there!
